Have you ever stood in a fifteen-person long Starbucks line and thought, "I'd give my first child if it meant skipping this line?" Well, your first born is saved thanks to a new feature on the Starbucks mobile app.
'Order & Pay' allows you to browse the entire Starbucks menu from wherever you are (bed,) place your order, pay, and even digitally tip from the app, then select the store you'd like to pick up in. When you arrive, you can laugh your way straight to the pick-up counter and say, "I have a pick-up order for Your Name," which will be ready and waiting for you. BYE LINE.
As added insurance to guarantee that you will not wait around at all, the feature keeps you updated on how much time you have until your drink is ready. You'll receive countdown notifications as your drink is being prepared (i.e. "Your beverage will be ready in 3 to 7 minutes") and a final alert when your order is done, so you can plan your travels accordingly.
Sounds amazing, right? The only potential downfall is that you'll need to have your location services on. Even though it might feel like Starbucks is spying on you, this is necessary so that the app can easily pull in all Starbucks locations around you. It also allows the app to tell how far away you are from any given location, and which store is the best place for you to pick-up.
Mobile order and pay launched nationwide in over 7,400 company-operated stores this morning. Just FYI, it's only available via the app for android and iPhone, so if you're looking for it on Starbucks.com, you won't find it.
