I'm the kind of girl who goes into Target for one thing and comes out with 25 other things I absolutely did not need—candy often always included. But things are about to change, because Target is placing healthy food options at the checkout counter. So, like, I can't lust over Peanut Butter Twix and Reese's Pieces while standing in line? WTF?

Target is jumping on board the movement towards healthier living by eliminating some of the temptation in their checkout area (AKA, a mini version of Wonka's chocolate factory). Not sure how this fits in with their plan to serve you a cocktail while you shop, but don't freak out too much, because the chocolate bars, soda, and gummy candies will still be there, they'll just be in diminished supply to make room for more healthful options, such as KIND bars and Target's "Simply Balanced" nutrition brand.

This method, being tested next month in 30 stores, is meant to encourage customers to live a healthier lifestyle without sounding like a parent. "They don't want us to be preachy and they don't want us to tell them how to live their life," said Christina Hennington, Target's SVP of merchandising.

Another possible motivation? Money. As you've probably discovered by now, healthy snacks = way more expensive, so this is a business decision as much as it is a health concern.

As someone who considers the candy aisle the best part of any trip to the store, this kind of bums me out, but hopefully out of sight out of mind, right?
