Who knew that a pancake recipe from Joanna Gaines would add fuel to one of the most-discussed food debates of all time? That debate—whether or not pancakes should have crispy edges—made an appearance over the weekend in the comments' section of the television host's recent TikTok video.

In honor of Mother's Day, Gaines showed fans on TikTok how to make her insanely decadent bananas foster pancakes.

"We're almost ready to flip. I like that darker edge crisp because that's the butter...I do a lot of butter on my pancakes," she explained in the video.

The cookbook author and television host then whipped up her bananas foster topping using butter, brown sugar, rum extract, toasted pecans, and sliced bananas.

Gaines received plenty of praise for the recipe, but there were also tons of comments from people who either loved or hated the pancakes' crispy edges.

"I don't like the crispy edges, I don't eat them. I might be the only person in here who doesn't," one user wrote.

There were also plenty of "LOVE THE CRISPY EDGES!!" and "Yes!!! Crispy edges!! I love this" comments.

And then there were those who might like their pancakes a little too crispy.

"in our house we wait till the smoke detector goes off to flip or to tell us when the foods ready. lol," one person commented.

Gaines' dessert-worthy, bananas foster pancake recipe is just one of several that can be found in her new cookbook, Magnolia Table, Volume 3: A Collection of Recipes for Gathering.
