I am one of those people who just doesn't enjoy cooking. That is not to be confused with someone who cannot cook—I can, I just choose not to (thank goodness for my fiance). So when I heard about Sarah Burton, a writer over at BuzzFeed, taking on the challenge of cooking with an Easy-Bake Oven for a week, I was intrigued.

I mean, how could you not be? I grew up with the toy, mixing packets of powder with water so I could wait half the prescribed time and eat basically-still-raw brownies. Sure, I could've used a regular oven, but this way mom didn't have to worry about me burning my fingers off.

But could you actually cook grown-up food with the pink gadget? Apparently so, because the 2015 version of an Easy-Bake Oven offers up pizza, pretzels, and chocolate chip cookies. Sarah tried them all out, and even threw in her own recipes from a registered dietician (skinny cajun meatballs, cauliflower bites, and sweet potato tarts).

I'll be upfront: Not all of these recipes were going to be a success—that I could tell from the beginning. But there were a few, shockingly, that Sarah gave an A+ rating. So say what you will, but when I buy my goddaughter her first Easy-Bake Oven, I may try to convince her to bust out something other than brownie batter.
