Pumpkin Spice Twinkies can be found exclusively at Kroger stores this fall, a representative from Hostess confirmed. We're sorry for giving you false hope if you don't live near a Kroger—though this could also be an excellent excuse for a road trip. And if you're not into spending hours in a car in pursuit of a snack cake, it's probably only a matter of time before the treats start popping up on eBay.
Original Post: It isn't technically fall yet, but 2015 has already brought us a veritable cornucopia (sorry, had to) of seasonally inspired, prepackaged snack foods, like pumpkin spice hummus, pumpkin spice Greek yogurt and even PSL-flavored M&Ms.
Now, Pumpkin Spice Twinkies have entered the mix. First spotted by a reader atThe Impulsive Buy, these snack cakes feature the golden cake you know and love, only with a pumpkin spice-flavored creme filling. The limited-edition variety has been found at Kroger's stores, but it seems likely that it will be available in grocery stores nationwide, given that Hostess's other seasonal treats—ahem, Pumpkin Spice Donettes and CupCakes—are sold at most major supermarkets.
A representative for Hostess hasn't gotten back to us with further details, but we'll be updating this story as soon as we know more. Because, naturally, we had to let you know ASAP about this new flavor, just in case you happen to be wandering into a grocery store today.
After all, one needs to be prepared for this sort of thing. You don't want to be blindsided by a whole new flavor of Twinkie and left utterly awestruck in the middle of aisle 3, unable to form words—let alone grab your phone to Instagram—such a wonder. Why, in your delighted state you could very well be stunned into such a stupor that some hooligans grab the very last box before you can claim it as your own. The horror.
