Burger King might have totally failed in getting McDonald's on board with its McWhopper idea, but the burger-flipping chain had no problem with other fast-food restaurants, four of which offered to stand in for the Golden Arches. So how does a hurt BK respond? Accepting all said invitations for a Peace Day partnership.
This morning Burger King announced—via yet another open letter on its blog—that it would officially be teaming up with not one, but four other companies to make a plethora of dreamed-up burger mashups a reality. The lucky four are Denny's, Wayback Burgers (the company that wants togive Kim Kardashian free burgers and shakes during her pregnancy), Krystal (the Southern equivalent of White Castle), and Giraffas (a Brazilian chain in Florida). Based on the swift tweets that came from each brand—complete with specific sandwich hybrid suggestions—we expect to see some of these hypothetical menu items arrive at the five fast-food spots come September 21:
Although probably still devastated by the Big Mac rejection, Burger King remained cordial toward McDonald's, saying: "Our original proposal still stands. McDonald's, take your time. We're totally at peace with that." There was absolutely no chance we'd sit around and wait, though—which is why we went ahead and crafted our own massive, three-patty McWhopper.
