Now that McDonald's has been named the best spot for breakfast—and is officially bringing back all-day breakfast!—Taco Bell is trying steal some of its thunder by testing out a morning version of its dollar menu.
This news comes just two weeks after the Tex-Mex chain rolled out its Dollar Cravings menu, which includes cinnamon twists, Cinnabon Delights (basically frosting-filled donut holes), and a caramel apple empanada—all of which we guess could be considered breakfast-y. (We have to admit it would be a big stretch to consider the spicy potato soft taco as a homefries-filled tortilla, but we've also heard weirder ideas.)
But that wasn't enough for Taco Bell, no no. The company has decided to start test-running a Morning Value Meal where every item is a buck. This new dollar docket has yet to be added to the Taco Bell site, but Brand Eating reports that the new menu items were recently spotted in Fresno, CA.
The new offerings include a mini skillet bowl of eggs, potatoes, cheese, and pico de gallo; a sausage flatbread quesadilla; an oat-and-blueberry iteration of those donut holes; grilled breakfast burritos, with your choice of bacon, sausage, or "fiesta" potatoes; and hash browns.
This is great and all, but we've got two burning questions for Taco Bell: Why isn't the Cap'n Crunch donut part of the dollar deal? And, more importantly, will you deliver these cheap-as-hell breakfasts to our door?
