UPDATE: August 29, 2017 at 5:12 p.m.

Lucky Seattleites have been free to order wine, beer, and liquor from Amazon for years now, but the one- to two-hour boozy delivery service is finally rolling out across the country.

Available through Amazon Prime Now, prime members in 12 cities can now use the service, Food & Wine reports, which basically makes running out of beer mid-party 2016's problem.

Along with Seattle, the cities include:

  • Cincinnati, IN
  • Chicago, IL
  • Columbus, OH
  • Los Angeles, CA
  • Minneapolis, MN
  • New York City, NY
  • Phoenix, AZ
  • Portland, OR
  • Richmond, VA
  • San Diego, CA
  • San Francisco Bay Area

You can choose from beer, cider, wine, and spirits that are then delivered from local grocery or liquor stores. In some cities, including Portland, spirits are not available.

Also worth noting: if you can wait two hours, delivery is free. If you want it within the hour, a $7.99 delivery cost is added. For the price of convenience, though (and not having to run out during a party/football game/Bachelor marathon), it could be worthwhile.

Your liquor store isn't open before noon? Oh, it's closed completely on Sundays? First of all, you should probably find a new neighborhood. Or I guess you could sign up for Amazon Prime Now, which just launched one- and two-hour delivery of beer, wine, and liquor.

So far, the megawatt online retailer is only offering alcohol courier in its hometown, Seattle. But a nationwide rollout is in the works, despite inevitable roadblocks from each state's wildly varying laws on alcohol. Nonetheless, the delivery service is part of the $99/year membership, and is available everyday from 8 a.m. to midnight. You can even track exactly where your goods are via the smartphone app.

According to Geekwire, your booze could show up in half an hour. And prices, including tax, are comparable to local liquor stores—like a 750-mL bottle of Absolut vodka for $20—but the delivery itself will cost you $7.99 if you want it in 60 minutes. If you're not in a rush, delivery is free when you opt for the two-hour window. You just need to make sure you meet the $20 delivery minimum.

There are ten cities where you can already get groceries, household supplies, and even furniture and electronics delivered in two hours or less with Amazon Prime Now; but the boozy component is completely new to the U.S. (though it has been around in London for a bit.)

The spirit-and-grocery combo presents endless possibilities for spur-of-the-moment celebrations and boozy brunches: You can order literally all of the ingredients for Bloody Marys, mimosas, screwdrivers, gimlets, palomas … would you like us to keep going?
