Recently savory desserts have seen something of a renaissance. Between pastrami ice cream sandwiches and ramen flavored soft serve ,it was only a matter of time before they hit the public domain. Enter Dunkin' Donuts: The same fearless donut chain who introduced us to this bonkers Chips Ahoy flavor mashup is seriously on trend as it prepares for fall with its latest creation—bacon-topped, maple-frosted donuts.

First off, props to Dunks for not succumbing to the pumpkin spice tsunami (well, at least not yet). Who knew the famously basic brand would roll into fall with an alternative autumn concept? That being said, when we saw these pups tucked away at a location in New Jersey that's taking them for a test run, we knew we had to snag a couple for team Delish to taste.

At $1.99 a piece, the square donuts—which mysteriously contain no filling—are coated in a classic sugar glaze, then drizzled with maple frosting and generously crowned with bacon. They smell like a good ol' fashioned pancake breakfast with a side of bacon, which is freshly fried each morning. Dunkin' has clearly honed its bacon skills since it first tested the salty favorite back in March.

Unfortunately, the donut is only available in select stores throughout New Jersey and Connecticut so far. But if the testing proves to be a success, the sweet-and-salt treat could turn up in a coffee shop near you. In the meantime, these syrupy chicken and waffles will hopefully fill the maple-bacon-donut–sized hole in your heart. Maybe.
