McDonald's has been stuck in a rough patch lately, watching sales slump and customer satisfaction drop, and closing more locations than opening. But the chain seems to be bouncing back: After launching Create Your Taste kiosks in the U.S. and testing out gourmet breakfast menus, the fast-food restaurant was voted the country's favorite choice for people who crave breakfast all day. Good timing too, since the chain recently announced it's plan to roll out all-day breakfast this fall.

Reuters reports that a new survey from YouGov BrandIndex, a brand perception research service, McDonald's was the top choice for 41 percent of people who eat breakfast fare more than once a day. Subway came in second with 34 percent naming it their top pick while IHOP came in with 32 percent, and Burger King with just 27 percent. Denny's and Dunkin' Donuts trailed behind with 23 percent each. The online survey, which took place over a year, included 1,000 adults (aka "breakfastarians") over the age of 18 who eat breakfast dishes at least twice each day.

This Mickey D's breakfast success could be thanks to all the killer breakfast mash-ups you can now craft with items from both the breakfast and lunch/dinner menus—like our personal favorite, the Quarter Yolker. But McDonald's has dominated the breakfast category, which accounts for about a quarter of its sales and 40 percent of its profits in the U.S. With the morning market getting more and more competitive—Starbucks and Dunkin' Donuts recently upgraded their a.m. options, and Taco Bell just jumped into the ring with waffle tacos—the Golden Arches have prevailed with inexpensive drip coffee and espresso drinks alike.
