Hot heads have some more celebrating to do. After last week's discovery that spice lovers may actually live longer, there's a new development to get fired up about: Tabasco is opening a restaurant dedicated to hot sauce, because the flaming red condiment makes everything better, right?

Debuting today on Avery Island in Louisiana, the spicy eatery is named 1868—nods to both the year and place the condiment company was founded. Hot off the menu are mainly Cajun options like crawfish etoufféesweet and spicy sausages, and jambalaya. But there are also inventive (albeit questionable) dessert mash-ups like raspberry-chipotle ice cream. Dishes range from $7 to $12 and are served inside a cafeteria-style set-up.

Now that its doors are officially open, the restaurant aims to reboot the interactive component to the company's tours with new options like a four part "seed-to-table" tours that include demonstrations of the pepper-growing stage, aging process, and a museum of Tabasco artifacts. The company is hoping to see the same popularity that it garnered with its original tasting tour before it was discontinued in the early 1980s.
