Just as we're all coming down from a collective National Ice Cream Day sugar high, another round of freebies is sweeping America: Two million appetizers at Applebee's. On July 21, the chain where "there's no place like the neighborhood" will be offering apps on the house all day. We know what you're thinking:
While these complimentary plates are definitely exciting, the promotion will only include free sampler plates (normally $9.99–$13.99) of the brand's newest creations like Sriracha-spiced shrimp and s'mores-style churros. But other newer starters will also be available at a discounted price, including Kobe meatballs, sweet and spicy pickles, and brisket sliders.
The promotion is part of Applebee's new campaign "Taste the Change," which includes plans to overhaul the original menu in favor of trendier items—which we already know are obviously anything related to s'mores and Sriracha—in hopes of being hip and getting with the times. While we'd say it's not quite on fleek just yet, the company seems to be on the right path with its renditions of frankenfood—as long as there's no hot-dog pizza involved.
