People aren't lovin' it!
McDonald's is probably the last place you'd expect a movie about artificial intelligence gone terribly wrong to take place, but that's exactly what's happening at the chain's drive-thrus. As some McDonald's start to rollout a new ordering system that uses Artificial Intelligence to take customer's orders, the technology has caused a bit of mayhem. And yes, the chaos has been captured on TikTok for our viewing pleasure.
On the social media site, TikToker @resinsbiren broke down their experience with the A.I. system, sharing the story of how a Diet Coke that shouldn't have been added to their order turned into nine sweet teas.
"So, y'all know how it's 2023 and robots are like taking over the world," the TikToker joked. "Anyway, this morning I tried to go to McDonald's and get my daily dose of caffeine and some breakfast...She adds the Diet Coke from the next line to my screen. So tell me why when I tell her—this robot—that I have no Diet Coke, for some reason she took the Diet Coke off and made it nine sweet teas!"
In another hilarious TikTok video from @typical_redhead_, you can hear someone pleading for the A.I. system to stop as 20 10-piece McNugget meals are added to their order.
In another video shared by @that_usa_guy, users came to the defense of the A.I. ordering system, questioning why the frustrated TikToker would order Mountain Dew at a restaurant that exclusively sells Coca-Cola products. "Definitely you, not AI… when has McDonald’s sold Pepsi products?????" said one commenter.
Sorry A.I. robots, it looks like humans may have won this round.
