For the second time this year, a ready-to-drink beverage from Starbucks is making headlines due to a voluntary recall.
According to an August 15 notice from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, a total of 221 cases of Starbucks Vanilla Espresso Triple Shot (15 oz.), a canned Starbucks beverage found in grocery stores, has been recalled. The popular drink has been recalled due to "Possible contamination by foreign material." The FDA specified that the foreign materials in this particular recall were metal fragments, but did not provide any additional information on how the possible contamination came to be.
A total of seven states have been affected by the recall: Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Oklahoma, and Texas.
Eat This, Not That! reports that just six months ago, Starbucks' Double Shot Espresso drinks were recalled due to "inadequate sealing." A staggering 250,000 cases of Double Shot Espresso were recalled as a result.
This most recent recall serves as just one of the many recalls consumers have faced this year. In recent months, products from Capri Sun, Daily Harvest, and Oatly have been recalled for a myriad of reasons, from microbial contamination to diluted cleaning-solution contamination.
The best way to stay up to date on recalls from your favorite brands is to occasionally check the FDA's list of recalled items.
