A good burger is synonymous with summer for me—best enjoyed outdoors, off a charcoal grill, with plenty of corn and watermelon on the side and a body of water nearby. But Shake Shack’s new limited-edition burger is exactly the kind of sandwich I want to be chowing down on in the fall.
The Black Truffle Burger gives all the fanciness you associate with truffles but with the casual goodness that comes with a burger. It’s available starting on October 15, and I got an exclusive first taste. First off, let’s break down what’s inside the burger: It starts with a beef patty mixed with melty gruyere cheese. It's then topped with crispy fried shallots and the star of the show—the black truffle sauce, which is made with a few different kinds of mushrooms, herbs, and Regalis Black Truffle Oil for a rich and earthy flavor. All of that yumminess is placed between Shake Shack's typical toasted potato bun.
It’s juicy, it’s messy, it’s everything I want in a fall burger and more. The truffle isn’t overpowering or over the top, but offers just the right amount of decadence. I ate it in less than two minutes. To accompany the burger, the Black Truffle Sauce is also available in a dippable form with Parmesan Garlic Fries. I would like to make a motion to permanently replace ketchup with this delectable dip. Will anyone second me?
The Black Truffle Burger retails for $8.79 while the fries are $4.79. Both are available at participating Shake Shack locations from October 15 to January 10, but true fans can get early access starting today through the chain’s app.
