Could you imagine going through the drive-thru line at a Taco Bell, ordering your CrunchWrap Supreme and a Baja Blast, pulling up to the window and handing you your bag of food is...Lil Nas X? Well, believe it or not, the cultural icon and singer worked at an Atlanta-based Taco Bell back in 2017. And the company is celebrating his roots by appointing him a newly created position: Lil Nas X now has the title of Chief Impact Officer.
In this honorary role, Taco Bell and Nas will collaborate on some exclusive experiences, marketing, and menu innovations. One of the first initiatives is for the upcoming release of his album Montero.
"Lil Nas X knows the job, the experience, and the culture Taco Bell creates for its fans - including its people," CEO of Taco Bell Mark King said in a press release: "This unique partnership will deliver on more than just marketing, allowing us to tap into the genius of Lil Nas X to inspire our team members and align with our commitment to unlocking opportunities for young people."
You can expect to see Lil Nas X supporting the Taco Bell Foundation and the Live Más scholarship program. After all, we know his love for the brand is real—parts of his music video for “Sun Goes Down” were filmed at a Taco Bell. The song focuses on Nas reflecting on his youth, part of that being when he worked at the Mexican chain.
You can also look out for a cameo of him in the new breakfast campaign, which will bring back breakfast to 90 percent of restaurants. Breakfast Crunchwrap with a side of Montero, anyone?
