Have you ever wanted to try a strawberry frosty from Wendy’s? Well, now you can. The company just opened up what they are calling a Hamburger Stand, but it isn’t the quaint, nostalgic little burger joint from the 1950s you might be picturing.
Located inside a Walmart in Dublin, OH, this new concept restaurant is more like a kiosk, and it looks similar to the McDonald’s stops you’ve probably seen inside of Walmarts. But this Wendy’s will have a limited menu. “If you want to find a strawberry Frosty, you can only find it today in the Hamburger Stand restaurant,” Todd Penegor, Wendy’s CEO and president, told Nation’s Restaurant News: “And we’ve got this unbelievably great Jalapeno Popper Chicken Nugget.”
OK, a strawberry frosty and a new spicy chicken nugget?! Can we dip the nugg in the frosty? These two additions alone are enough to plan an Ohio road trip.
This new concept is part of the company’s plan to expand into non-traditional development. Earlier this summer, they also opened a Frosty Cart in a Florida zoo. Plans are in the works to open delivery kitchens and a Wendy’s Snack Shop at another Ohio Walmart. “It’s just another opportunity with a little more limited menu to continue to provide access to our brand,” Penegor continued. “We do think access drives awareness; awareness drives trial and repeat; and that really drives frequency overtime.”
We don’t yet know what else is on the menu at the Hamburger Stand or what we will be able to order at the Snack Shop, but we can only hope they will open more of them across the country.
