While it's only February, that won't stop us from looking forward to spring and all that comes along with it. With the start of spring comes the celebration of Easter and with that holiday comes tons of adorable pastel sweets for everyone to enjoy. After a brief hiatus, Peeps are finally back and better than ever and the brand has a new "Cookie Coop Kit" available for purchase that will be a fun DIY activity for the whole family.
It became clear in the year 2020 that the concept of gingerbread houses didn't have to be exclusive to the winter months. In fact, starting in the fall, variations of other build-it-yourself edible structures became increasingly popular with Halloween with cookie haunted mansions and graveyard kits that included everything you needed to build them at home...then eat it up afterward. The same idea applies here but includes the beloved Peeps marshmallow chicks of the spring.
Peeps Cookie Coop Kits will include Peeps chicks, premade icing, assorted candy, baked sugar cookie panels for building, and chicken-shaped cookies. The cookie panels have a "link and lock" feature that makes them easier to piece together, which means you can use more of your icing for decorating rather than building. Right now, BJ's Wholesale Club is selling a set of two coops for $10.99 that come with all of the supplies needed, and single coop kits will hit other retailers soon.
Not to be the devil on your shoulder or anything, but while you're at the store picking this up to get in the spring mood there's no harm in browsing the rest of the seasonal candy aisle...Reese's is making marshmallow top peanut butter cups that would look pretty good in your edible chicken coop display...just saying!
