If you needed to hear some heartwarming news today, well, I've got it. Leonardo DiCaprio, who played the lovable and charming Jack Dawson in Titanic, may just be as much of a stan of the iconic film as we are. DiCaprio's former interior designer, Megan Weaver, recently appeared on an episode of the podcast Behind the Velvet Rope, where she divulged a pretty *titanic* secret about his former Malibu beach house. Three words: "Everything was Titanic."
Weaver explained to podcast host David Yontef that she briefly worked for the actor shortly after the movie came out in the late '90s. While she worked with him, DiCaprio's mother had actually given her permission to spend the weekend with her boyfriend at the actor's beach house in Malibu as a little treat.
Weaver recalls arriving there for the first time to discover that the cottage was adorned with decor inspired by the movie as well as memorabilia. "Everything was Titanic. Titanic towels, Titanic poster, Titanic, you know, everywhere," she quipped. She also recalled seeing robes similar to the ones seen in the film.
While a Titanic-themed home could get a little kitschy, Weaver explained that "everything was very tasteful." She continued to note that "I don't think that's something [DiCaprio] would do now," explaining that she assumed DiCaprio's mother had been the one who decorated the home with all the film-inspired merchandise. "It was also not his main house and he hardly went there . . . it was probably his mom who did it," she said.
That being said, DiCaprio definitely had to have spent some time there within his 18 years of owning it. According to Forbes, DiCaprio purchased the three-bedroom house in 1998 and placed it on the market for $10.95 million in 2016. I don't know about you, but I could totally picture DiCaprio taking a walk down memory lane in the Titanic-themed home and possibly checking himself out on a poster. I mean, I sure would! Anyway, you can watch Weaver tell all about the home below.
