Like many of us, celebrity chef Katie Lee has been busy working from home, and like a lot of parents, that means juggling video calls while also taking care of little ones. But, not everyone's video calls are broadcast on national TV and with fellow celeb chef Rachael Ray. Casual!
Katie appeared on Rachael's talk show today to chat and teach viewers how to make sun-dried tomato pasta. But while she stirred away in the kitchen, viewers could also see her three-month-old daughter Iris hanging out in the background. As soon as the interview starts, Rachael points out Iris "bobbing in an egg" behind Katie, and Katie runs over to retrieve the pacifier Iris had spit out.
Katie also opened up about what it's been like to be a new mom during the pandemic and how she and her husband work as a team to get it all done.
"Most days I'm in pajamas, and this is as fixed as my hair gets, but I'm having fun. I’m taking care of that sweet little girl back there, and just very, very happy," Katie said: "Luckily my husband Ryan, is a TV producer and he’s great at helping me get everything in order."
Katie also added that when Iris starts eating solid food, she wants to make sure she has an expansive palate just like her mom. She's even started working on that!
"So I really hope that she likes to eat everything. I’m trying to eat a lot of different flavors right now, because they say that actually helps the baby’s palate develop when you’re breastfeeding; to have all those different flavors," she said.
But as the pair chatted, Iris had a few things to say herself, chiming in to cry or babble several times throughout.
“My little pterodactyl back here never cries ever until mommy gets on TV,” Katie joked. “She is just trying to participate Katie! She wants to be like you,” Rachael replied.
