Even more so than normal, 2020 was the year of viral recipes. As many of us spent more time at home, every day there seemed to be some buzzy food that everyone was clamoring to make...even if it was just a homemade version of some foods we've been eating for years. Now, as the year finally draws to a close, Google is helping us take a look back at the recipes that really captured our attention this year.

The search engine posted its annual Year in Search data, which looks back at all of the most popular things we've been searching for. Among the news, people, actors, and other search results, Google recounted the top 10 most-searched-for recipes of 2020, and honestly, most of them should be no surprise.

Topping the list is sourdough bread, of course. You really couldn't go anywhere on the internet without seeing your friends showing off their starters and crispy bread triumphs...and maybe even failures too. Next up was whipped coffee, AKA Dalgona coffee, which went viral on TikTok. It also sparked a ton of iterations like whipped strawberry milk and whipped peanut butter milk, just to name a few.

Next up is "Disney churro." As the parks closed for months, we were all missing our favorite foods. But luckily Disney began sharing the recipes for some of its most popular treats, including churro bites and Dole Whip, the next most-searched item on the list.

Another brand that let us in on its food secrets this year was DoubleTree, which shared its iconic chocolate chip cookie recipe, which takes the next spot. People went crazy for this recipe because, uh, have you ever tried them? And we have yet another brand, Ikea, taking the next spot, as people searched for their meatball recipe, which they shared as well.

From there, things get a little more surprising: Chaffles, "waffles" made typically of cheese and eggs, take the next spot. This might seem a little weird until you remember—duh—keto was very much still a thing this year. Not-so-keto-friendly was the next entry: hamburger buns. And finally, we round out the list with another quarantine favorite: banana bread. But specifically "healthy banana bread." Fair enough!

Some other food-related mentions in the Year in Search included, "How to make whipped coffee" for the people who needed a little more help, and the term "Black owned restaurants near me," as many looked for ways to support Black-owned businesses (which you can learn more about here!).
