Hot sauce fanatics might want to sit down for this one: Cholula is releasing a hands-free hot sauce dispenser in an effort to make eating at restaurants a little safer during the pandemic. Better yet, you might be able to get one for your home!
Cholula worked with Simplehuman, a tool designer and manufacturer, to create the touch-free smart product. The concept is similar to touchless kitchen faucets that get rid of germ-covered surfaces. All you have to do to use it is hover your hand over it and Cholulua’s iconic original hot sauce will come out.
"When restaurant operators began removing Cholula bottles from tabletops amid the pandemic, we needed to develop a solution that could adapt to their new environment," CEO of the Cholula Food Company Maura Mottolese said in a press release.
The dispenser is battery-operated and holds 32 ounces of hot sauce. It has “a valve to reduce hot sauce splatter and a completely new upward facing sensor interface to make it more intuitive for users in the restaurant environment,” according to CEO of Simplehuman Frank Yang.
While the dispenser was created to help food service operators and diners have a safer experience, a limited number of the product will be available to purchase starting on December 1 at 12 p.m. through this website. For $130, you’ll get a dispenser, a half-gallon jug of Cholula Original, and free shipping. FYI, all of the proceeds from the sale will benefit the Independent Restaurant Coalition–a nonprofit that helps independent restaurants affected by COVID-19. If you want one, make sure to enter your email on the website and set alarms for when it drops!
