Today in a plot twist literally no one saw coming, Kelly Clarkson is being sued by her father-in-law. As you probably know, Kelly and her husband Brandon Blackstock split up over the summer—and the situation is a little tricky because Brandon's dad Narvel Blackstock (the dude that's suing her) happens to run her longtime management company.

Variety was the first to break this news, reporting that Starstruck Management Group filed a claim against Kelly alleging that she owes them $1.4 million in unpaid commissions (she already paid $1.9 million) for her work on The Kelly Clarkson Show and The Voice this year. Oh, and Starstruck claims that she'll owe at least $5.4 million by the end of 2020.

“Over the course of approximately 13 years, Starstruck developed Clarkson into a mega superstar,” the complaint states, per Variety. “By way of example only, Starstruck was instrumental in helping Clarkson achieve success in terms of numerous hit albums, multiple Grammy wins and nominations, her role on popular television shows like ‘The Voice’ and her own talk show. Despite Starstruck’s hard work and dedication, Clarkson has decided she is going to stop paying Starstruck for what is contractually owed.”

Kelly started working with Narvel back in 2007, and he's the one who introduced her to Brandon—who she married in 2013. The pair split up in June, and Kelly opened up about the breakup on her show, saying "2020 has brought a lot of change also to my personal life. Definitely didn't see anything coming that came," she said. "What I'm dealing with is hard because it involves more than just my heart. It involves a lot of little hearts. We have four kids. And divorce is never easy. And we're both from divorced families so we know the best thing here is to protect our children and their little hearts."
