Many people are spending more time with those they share a home with this year than they have in allllll the previous ones–Ina Garten and her beloved husband Jeffrey included. Ina told People that she and Jeffrey have spent more time together in the past few months while social distancing during the pandemic than they have since the ‘70s.

"I feel like I prepared my whole life to be quarantined, or working towards a place where we could be quarantined," Ina told the outlet.

Pre-pandemic, Jeffery commuted from their home in East Hampton to New Haven, CT, for his job as dean of the Yale School of Management. In previous jobs, he still had to commute from other places–New York, Washington, D.C., Kenya. “He would always leave on Monday and come back on Friday, and I stayed in one place,” she said. What a tiring concept!

Now, Jeffrey writes and teaches remotely. "I think [he] is going to look back on these days as the good old days," Ina continued. "I make him lunch, I make him dinner, and he's home all the time."

Ina shared that she had always wondered what it would be like if her husband retired. “And when [the pandemic] happened, I thought, oh, I guess that's what it's going to be like,” she said: “I have to say, it's great.”

I guess we can all find solace in Ina and Jeffrey silver lining during this truly chaotic year!
