We all know the royal family has some pretty specific rules when it comes to eating. From the way they use napkins to the foods you'll never find on their dinner table, there are some strict standards the family has to follow. One of the weirdest, though, may be the fact that the queen prefers her burgers without the bun.
Darren McGrady was the royal chef for 15 years, so he knows a lot about the inner workings of the royal family and their diets. He's shared quite a few of his most popular recipes in Delish's series Royal Eats including Queen Elizabeth's favorite cake and Prince Harry's favorite cottage pie. McGrady also revealed in a recent interview with Insider that the queen does indeed eat burgers, as long as there's no bun involved.
"Her Majesty's Victorian upbringing dictates that the only thing you would pick up and eat with your fingers is afternoon tea," McGrady told Insider. This means that when burgers were served, they were always eaten with a fork and knife. The burgers were often homemade by the kitchen staff from the venison the family would hunt themselves at their summer vacation home. The patties were also paired with a special cranberry stuffing.
It's no surprise that even the royal fam's burger preferences are super fancy, but I did like to imagine them digging in to a Big Mac every once in a while. Next time I want to feel like a royal heir, I guess I'll take my hamburger bun-less. Queen vibes only!
