You've probably used Amazon before to order snacks or food straight to your door. Now, the you can actually visit the first ever Amazon Fresh supermarket in person, which is about to revolutionize how you think about grocery shopping. Located in Woodland Hills, CA, Amazon Fresh offer all the products of a normal grocery store with added technological features like Alexa and the Amazon Dash Cart.
Amazon Fresh will have traditional brands of fresh and packaged foods and will also offer the Whole Foods 365 food brand on shelves. Fresh food will be prepared on location by the culinary team so customers can purchase fresh bread, made-to-order pizzas, rotisserie chicken, and hot sandwiches on their shopping trip.
Customers can choose to shop in person or online, with Prime members eligible for free same-day delivery. The store will also act as an Amazon package pick-up location and will accept returns.
Some of the most impressive features of Amazon Fresh include the Alexa technology and Amazon Dash Cart. Alexa can be used to find items in the grocery store and manage shopping lists as Amazon Echo devices are available around the store for customers to ask questions. In addition, the Amazon Dash Cart makes checkout easy and shoppers can choose to skip the checkout line, log onto their Amazon accounts before shopping, and exit through the Dash Cart lane for payments to go through automatically.
In the announcement, Amazon also emphasized the safety guidelines the new grocery store will follow. Temperature checks for employees, face coverings for all who enter the store, and free masks for customers who need them will all be protocol. The store is also operating at a 50 percent capacity to enforce social distancing.
At the moment, only invited customers are allowed to shop at the Woodland Hills Amazon Fresh. In the coming weeks the location will be open to the public from 7a.m. to 10p.m. daily.
