So many of our favorite shows look bit different as people try to navigate entertainment while keeping socially distant. One of the best in the distancing game (and really any game!) is Guy Fieri, who has been filming his show Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives at home, with a little help from his son, Hunter. In the latest installment, Guy and Hunter made perhaps the most delightful dish I've ever seen: A CHICKEN PARM WAFFLE.
The recipe comes courtesy of the Syracuse, NY, restaurant, Funk-N-Waffles, which is an extremely funny name. Don't get it? Say it loud or listen to Guy say it at the very beginning of the clip above and you will. Anyway, the guys from this waffle spot sent Guy over everything he'd need to make their delicious looking Chicken Parm Waffle at home.
This waffle doesn't use traditional batter (though Guy decided to add some anyway!), but is made by combining thing like eggs, milk, and salt with SPAGHETTI to make a savory waffle. It's then topped with sauce and a HUGE piece of chicken parm (which IS coated in waffle batter), and cheese. I love everything about the energy of this waffle shop and this waffle. Seriously, the clip above is pure happiness.
Guy described this loaded waffle as a cross between pasta, lasagna, and garlic bread, which is the best endorsement I've ever heard. Just in case you need another, Hunter also called it the best chicken and waffle he's ever had.
In case you want to make this waffle at home, you can find the full recipe in the description of the YouTube video posted above. And if you're near Syracuse, you can order this bad boy for yourself here as the restaurant is currently offering take-out. You can also order it heat-and-eat style off their website no matter where you live too!
