Chrissy Teigen's Twitter feed is a wild and wonderful place. She's constantly sharing selfies, clapping back at trolls, and sometimes, she even asks people if they have fresh ingredients she can have to make her famous banana bread. One of her latest retweets stirred up a lot of conversation on the app, as it includes a video of a woman draining—and rinsing–her rice after it's been cooked.
From what I gather, Nigel Ng, a YouTuber and London-based comedian who refers to himself in the third person as "Uncle Roger," is commenting on a BBC Food video where a woman is making rice. She declares her rice as finished, takes it over to the sink to drain it in a colander, and then rinses it with water. It's chaotic, to say the least, and Uncle Roger doesn't like it one bit!
"If your rice is wet you fucked up," he exclaims, continuing on to say there's "no way to save wet rice," and that if this happens, you just need to start over. In the original BBC Video, it's meant to be a tutorial for how to make egg fried rice. Both Uncle Roger and comedian Jenny Yang were not into it.
"LMAAOOOO WHO IS THIS HILARIOUS DUDE??????? THIS RICE COOKING IS A HATE CRIME," Jenny wrote in a tweet that included a clip of the rice catastrophe. She later followed up on her comment saying: "FOR ANYONE WHO IS TRYING TO SAY THERE ARE MULTIPLE WAYS OF COOKING RICE WELL OF COURSE THERE ARE. AND I LOVE THEM ALL. BUT THIS IS *NOT* HOW YOU MAKE DELICIOUS FRIED RICE THE DISH OF MY PEOPLES THE SUBJECT OF THIS VIDEO."
Chrissy retweeted the initial video with the clip, but made no further comment about what went down in the video. Surely Chrissy Teigen herself doesn't drain and then rinse her rice before eating it, but we're gonna need some clarification. Her silence is deafening.
