Wholesale warehouse chains like Costco and Sam's Club are the best places to stock up on groceries and other home essentials. Since they offer exclusive deals and savings on bulk items, a membership is required to shop at their stores. But right now, you can join Sam's Club basically for free thanks to the retailer's current promotion

Sam's Club, which is operated by Walmart, has two types of memberships. The Club Membership for one household costs $45 per year, while the Plus Membership, which has more benefits, costs $100 per year. Both levels come with one card for the household to share, and access to Sam's Club's gas stations and Tire and Battery Center.

So, what's the deal? Right now, if you sign up for a $45 Club Membership, you'll get $45 off a qualifying purchase. So if you use the $45 Instant Savings credit, your first year is essentially free. To take advantage of the offer, you have to be a new member. The credit is valid on one transaction of $45 or more within 60 days of membership activation. Worried you won't be able to reach the minimum during one trip the store? Based on the wide variety of products Sam's Club sells (think faux fiddle leaf fig trees and Baby Yoda cereal) and bulk items, it's likely you'll find plenty of fun items and essentials.

Want to take advantage of the deal and join Sam's Club? Sign up here by September 30.
