If you're anything like us, you're seriously obsessed with Aldi. Yes, things like pickle popcorn, cheesecake dips, and the now-famous margarita wine have us hooked on this grocery chain, and it seems we're not alone. Aldi has apparently been seeing massive growth recently, so much so that it's planning to add dozens of additional stores to the U.S. this year.
The chain recently celebrated opening its 2,000th (!!) store in the United States and announced plans to open more than 70 new locations by the end of the year. In a release, Aldi said this expansion will include opening in its 37th state, Arizona, by opening four new stores in the greater Phoenix area. Additionally, Aldi will open a new regional headquarters and distribution center in Loxley, AL, which will serve surrounding areas, including Louisiana (the chain's 38th state). This rapid growth makes Aldi on track to become the third-largest grocery retailer by store count by the end of 2022, so yeah, we're not exaggerating. They're everywhere!
"Each new store is an opportunity to serve another community, which is an honor and responsibility we do not take lightly," said Aldi U.S's CEO Jason Hart in a press release: "As we continue to expand, we promise to do everything in our power to offer the lowest prices, every day, without exception. In fact, as food costs are rising across the country, we're lowering prices on hundreds of items to meet our customers' increased need for savings."
In addition to expanding to new locations, the chain has also been expanding its curbside pickup and delivery options, as we previously reported. Sounds like there are going to continue to be a lot of ways (and places!) to get your favorite Aldi snacks. And thank goodness for that.
