Summer fairs were bound to look somewhat different this year, but they may still be able to exist, albeit in a different way than you'd think. Many areas are transforming their state and county fairs into drive-thru experiences, so you can still get your fried Oreos and funnel cakes this year.

Quite a few states across the nation are making it possible for the community to still enjoy the fair experience by making food stands accessible by car. A popular New York State Fair that takes place in Syracuse each year is one such example making the adjustment, according to Syracuse.com.

The typical carnival eats of the annual Syracuse fair from the fair will be available through a mobile stand that's operating this weekend from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Employees will follow proper social distancing guidelines and will wear masks when delivering food to customers in their cars.

Other events, like the Big Fresno Fair, are making similar changes so members of the community can still enjoy the summer, The Business Journal reported. Local food vendors who sell hot dogs, fries, and other traditional foods from the event will offer their selections via drive-thru. Events in Missouri, Florida, and Ohio are also reportedly doing the same.

Given everything going on, it's nice to see some areas are doing what they can to provide some sense of normalcy to the summertime. With safety guidelines in effect (and only with safety guidelines in effect), chowing down on deep-fried everything and other carnival classics is a good way to celebrate the summertime.
