You're probably familiar with Hot Ones, the YouTube show where they get celebrities to eat insanely hot wings and answer increasingly difficult personal questions. It's a blast to watch and has even helped to create viral moments like Paul Rudd's "Look at us" meme. But now the show is stepping off of YouTube and onto your TV screens with a whole new game show. (Don't worry—the YT eps will continue on per usual.)
The program is aptly titled Hot Ones: The Game Show and it's pretty different from its online counterpart. It's still hosted by First We Feast's Sean Evans, but instead of him sitting in a minimalist room, he'll be at the helm of a giant game show set complete with huge flames...casual. Another thing to note: He won't be eating the wings along with his contestants this time either. I am relieved for his insides, TBH.
The differences don't stop there. The contestants are not celebs, but teams of normal people. Instead of answering personal questions, they'll be answering trivia questions. From the looks of it, they won't be given napkins, water, milk, or ice cream either, and the results are TERRIFYING. See evidence here:
The contestants will go through four rounds of trivia questions with $25,000 and milkshakes as prizes. So the stakes are certainly higher. But it looks like the wings are even hotter too, as the hot sauces are a bit different from the ones featured on the YouTube show. I'd consider myself a person who can handle spice but after watching this trailer...I'll pass.
The first episode airs tonight at 10 p.m. on TruTV and will air weekly on Tuesdays, so toss some wings in hot sauce and get ready to play along...if you dare.
