Twitter dot com is a crazy place where the best memes and jokes are often born. Sometimes, though, Twitter gives us something terrible. Kiwi pizza, for example, which I was still reeling from until I saw a horrifying tweet on my timeline that was of, well, a woman bathing in Hot Cheetos.
Twitter user @sp00kynugget posted the short video clip with the caption, "Omg so needed after this stressful day." It shows her legs in a bathtub that is presumably full of water but also...Hot Cheetos. LOTS of Hot Cheetos! I can tell it's Hot Cheetos from the color of the chips because I'm not an amateur. To top it all off, she also holds up a champagne flute full of what looks like Hot Cheetos water from the tub. Great!
Now I love a hot chip as much as the next gal, but even I definitely wouldn't want to, uh, lay in a giant water vat of the things. I'm imagining that the cheetle powder from them is in places that cheetle powder should never be. Also, did she DRINK that Hot Cheeto water, like, actually? Ugh. Unsurprisingly, other Twitter users were also shocked.
One was particularly curious about the bathroom clean up and if the Hot Cheetos had any affect on her skin.
Another was just upset that Hot Cheetos were wasted in the process.
Thankfully, we got some of these questions answered, because we talked to @sp00kynugget (who asked to go by her username) about her viral video. She had no intention of going viral, and originally made the video to make her friends laugh on Snapchat.
"I had taken my own quick three-sec video as a joke for just my Snapchat friends and got really good responses and then decided to post to Twitter," she said. "I usually would get no more than 20 likes on my posts so I didn’t even think anyone would see it."
As of now, the tweet has over 87,000 likes and 18,000 retweets. @sp00kynugget told us that the video was really her in the bathtub with the Cheetos, but she wasn't in there for long. "People seem to think I was actually taking a bath in it," she exclusively told Delish: "So many people were asking if I had gotten an infection or if I was burning. I had absolutely no issues and was in there for just a few shots."
According to @sp00kynugget, the tub was filled with about $150 worth of Hot Cheetos bags and it was totally cleaned up by using a strainer to take the Cheetos out. She also let the tub soak in soap and water so there were no long term stains.
Lastly, @sp00kynugget told us something delightfully ironic, which is that Hot Cheetos aren't her go-to snack. "Not my favorite snack but I like them quite a bit!" Chaotic energy at its finest.
