Update, May 15, 2020 10:49 a.m.: OK, so we knew Dunkaroos were coming back to us this summer and that was exciting news in and of itself. But today I am THRILLED to say that Dunkaroos apparently classifies summer as mid-May because these puppies (kangaroos?) have already been spotted in stores!

Photos of Dunkaroo packages are currently FLOODING my Instagram feed and they all seem to be coming from one place: 7-Eleven. Yes, it seems if you want the hook-up, many participating 7-Elevens already seem to have glorious display cases selling individual packs of Dunkaroos. The packs seem to go for about $1.99 in case you're wondering!

The brand gave out packs of Dunkaroos for free this month, but if you didn't get one of those and can't get to a 7-Eleven, never fear! They posted on Instagram assuring us that they would be out at select retailers at the end of May. That is very soon! I can almost taste the frosting...

Original, February 3, 2020 1:05 p.m.: One of the most-beloved snacks of the '90s is finally making its triumphant return. That's right, Dunkaroos are officially coming back, and honestly, I'm freaking out along with the rest of the internet.

The Dunkaroos team confirmed to us today that the beloved snack will be available again starting this summer. If you've never had or heard of a Dunkaroo, you might be scratching your head right now. Is this a moment in which I will be OK, boomer'd? Or...OK, millennial'd?? Either way, let me educate you.

Dunkaroos came to us back in the '90s and were discontinued around 2012. They are comprised of two of the most delicious things on planet Earth: cookies and icing. Each individual pack contained a few tiny, round cookies that could be dipped in a little vat of icing. It was heaven.

Back then, you could get a bunch of different flavors like Chocolate Cookies and Vanilla Icing or Strawberry Icing with Vanilla Cookies, but General Mills confirmed that for now, Dunkaroos will be coming back in the most popular flavor: Vanilla Cookies and Vanilla Frosting with Rainbow Sprinkles.

The only bad news is that we don't know exactly when we can expect to start seeing these on shelves. All we know is "summer," which could mean May or it could mean August. If I were you, I'd just start trolling the snack aisle around the first time you're able to sit on the porch and have a drink. They should be available shortly after that...then you can have DUNKAROOS on the porch. Ah, to be young again.
