If you like your hot sauce with a side of hot sauce, you’re going to want to sit down for this: Frank’s RedHot has teamed up with Dunkin’ to create a hot sauce-covered jelly donut.
Frank’s RedHot fans got a little glimpse of this on Twitter after the folks behind the hot sauce created (and ate) a Dunkin’ donut with their Original Cayenne Pepper Sauce on top.
Just afterward, Dunkin’ announced that it's actually making and selling some of these at select locations in Florida. It’s called the Frank’s RedHot Jelly Donut, and it celebrates Frank’s RedHot's 100 year anniversary.
According to Rick Golden, manager of Donut Excellence at Dunkin’ (yup, that’s a real job), his team tested more than a dozen different donut combinations before they decided on the winning combo. The Frank’s RedHot Jelly Donut features a yeast donut shell that’s filled with apple and raspberry-flavored jelly, topped with white icing and drizzled with Frank’s RedHot Original Cayenne Pepper Sauce, per a Dunkin’ press release. You’ve got your sweetness and spice, for a donut that’s definitely unique.
Sure, it’s not for everyone. But, if you freak out over spicy-sweet stuff, it’s at least worth considering. Sound like a little piece of heaven to you? You’ll want to book a flight to the Sunshine State ASAP, because this is a today-only kind of deal…while supplies last. Here’s where you can find them:
- 817 SE 17th Street, Ste B, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316
- 2800 S Le Jeune Rd, Miami International Airport, Miami, FL 33134
While you're there, don't forget to order a second, non-spicy donut to help your mouth recover from all that heat! That's just good planning.
