Hard seltzer is not a thing of the past just yet. In fact, more and more brands are coming out with their own versions of the fad in 2020. The 12 percent ABV Four Loko seltzer has already hit shelves, and now Bud Light is selling an alcoholic seltzer drink too.
Like many of the other hard seltzer options on the market, this new Bud Light seltzer is five percent ABV and 100 calories per can. Bud Light beer is usually about six percent ABV, but the five percent is right in line with the other similar drinks out there—besides of course, the Four Loko one, which has too much chaotic energy anyway.
The Bud Light seltzers come in four flavors: black cherry, lemon lime, strawberry, and mango. I guess it's a requirement that all seltzers need to have a black cherry flavor or something? I will say that not many other brands have a simple strawberry flavor, so that's maybe the one Bud Light seltz I'd want to try out. I can have a little strawberry hard seltz...as a treat.
The lemon lime is pretty typical, too, as is the mango, but I think these four flavors together in one variety pack is a pretty good move considering a lot of people seem to have their own preferences of citrus versus sweet hard seltzers.
In the commercials for the product, it is made very clear that no actual Bud Light beer is in these seltzers. There's also a fun little functioning hotline at 1-833-BL-SELTZ that you can call if you have any burning questions about this product.
You can purchase Bud Light Seltzers wherever you buy beer. Honestly, you might as well try it so you have something to fall back on if your Trader Joe's runs out of White Claw.
