The Bachelor is wild as always this season, but something happened last night that was so deeply bizarre, so embarrassing, and so great that it had to immediately be given its own name: "Champagne-gate."
It all started when contestant Kelsey brought her own bottle of Dom Perignon champagne, which can retail for close to $200 a bottle, to split with Peter. Cute. While she was prepping for her big moment with Peter, she realized that Hannah Ann, who notably got the first impression rose last week, had snagged the bottle and was drinking it with Peter herself. RUDE.
Of course, chaos ensued, with Kelsey pissed as hell that not only did she miss out on time with her man, but also sips of this expensive booze, and Hannah swearing up and down that she didn't take it on purpose. As the kids say, sure Jan.
That was all well and good and dramatic but the truly great moment occurred when Peter tried to make it all better by popping another bottle with Kelsey (not the fancy stuff but whatever!!) and share a moment with her.
Kelsey tried to have a Cool Girl moment by swigging the champagne straight from the bottle because in her words "I'm not a classy bitch all the time," which...same!
Unfortunately, this resulted in it totally bubbling up in her face. She had to spit out a bunch of champagne on the floor next to Peter and the whole thing will give you tons of secondhand embarrassment.
People, of course, lost it.
Honestly, Kelsey did seem pretty upset by it, and I do feel badly, as someone who has tried to chug many a beer and gotten it all over my shirt. We've all been there, girl! Luckily, she seemed to take it all in stride, later posting a photo on her Instagram saying "Note to future self: Never drink cheap champagne straight from the bottle."
