New Year, new addition to the menu! Dunkin' is about to give us a whole new way to enjoy our morning espresso fixes this spring. Ladies and gentleman, please meet the Oat Milk Latte, which you can enjoy either hot or iced. (No matter how cold it is outside, you'll always find me with an ice beverage in hand. Team Mary-Kate!)
The latte, which offers a delicious new way for those of us after a dairy-free option to flavor our morning caffeine rushes, is made from a blend of hand-crafted espresso and creamy oat milk.
If lattes aren't your thing, fret not, my friend. You will also soon be able to add oat milk to any of your favorite Dunkin's beverages, whether your order be hot or iced coffee, cold brew, or a frozen treat.
The wait for spring already feels impossibly long for this New Yorker. But if you live on the West Coast, you're in major luck. Dunkin' already introduced oat milk to the menu in California on Jan. 1. Guests at participating locations can enjoy a FREE sample of the new Oat Milk Latte every Friday in January during the morning coffee rush: That's 8 a.m. 10 a.m. local time, approximately.
The news from Dunkin' follows the announcement of three plant-based drinks at Starbucks, including an Oat Milk Honey Latte, which is currently available at 1,300 stores in the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri and Wisconsin. Made from shots of Starbucks Blonde Espresso and steamed oat milk, the hot beverage includes both honey and a toasted honey topping.
Dunkin' already offers almond milk as a dairy alternative, but you should give a chance to oat milk, which was invented by Swedish brand Oatly. Oat milk is naturally creamy, and its impact on the environment is reportedly less severe.
A recent report from The Guardian revealed that the struggle to keep up with the huge demand for almond milk led to the deaths of 50 billion bees in just a few months. To put that number into perspective, it's more than seven times the number of humans on planet Earth.
On that note—yay, oat milk lattes!
