Watch your back, Blake Shelton!
Blake loves to brag that he’s the OG of The Voice, and no one is trying to take that away from him. But what his fellow coaches Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and girlfriend Gwen Stefani are trying to do is steal season 17 right out from under the Ole Red founder’s nose—and it’s working.
This year’s top 11 have officially been revealed, and much like Adam Levine earlier this year, Blake has suddenly found himself at a disadvantage. Gwen, Kelly, and John all have three contestants remaining on their teams, while Blake is down to only two.
What’s worse, is that the singer who did win the Wildcard Instant Save, 15-year-old Joana Martinez, was actually on Team Blake before she was saved by Gwen. Meaning if only Blake had kept Joana on his team, he may not be in this predicament. Gwen never promised to take it easy on “Blakey,” and she clearly meant it!
Of course, you can never quite predict who the audience will choose for the Wildcard Instant Save. Blake’s artist, Cali Wilson, and Kelly’s singer, Max Boyle, were also in the bottom three and any of the above could have secured the most votes. But it was Gwen who reigned victorious, and we hope she bragged about it just a little to her boyfriend afterward.
Blake has two strong contenders in Kat Hammock and Ricky Duran, so it’s still anyone’s game at this point. With so much amazing talent, we can’t predict what will happen in the weeks to come.
