In case you missed it, Nick Jonas is officially replacing Gwen Stefani on the next season of The Voice. It was only fitting, then, that he made an appearance on his new co-worker's other show, Kelly's self-titled The Kelly Clarkson Show. Gotta love a good cross collaboration—especially when tequila shots are involved.
On the recently-aired episode, Nick brought Kelly a bottle of his tequila, Villa One, which he launched this year with fashion designer John Varvatos. This, clearly, was the way to Kelly's heart: "You're invited any time, you bring alcohol," she said during the segment. Though, as anyone who's watched The Voice knows, the judges love a little friendly ribbing, so Kelly wasn't gonna let Nick go without stirring the pot just a bit.
After Nick's first shot was a little, shall we say, restrained for Kelly's liking, she poured a second—did we mention she's the best?—and told Nick she wanted to "celebrate that you're gonna be on The Voice and I'm gonna kick your tail."
There was also the tiniest bit of juice shared about the upcoming season: Per Nick, who was a good sport about the teasing (Kelly did call his tequila "so smooth," to be fair!), they've already filmed the blind auditions and he's "assembled a good team." Viewers can look forward to more rivalry between the judges on the show, though—the two apparently have similar taste in singers, which Kelly suspected might happen. Of the new judge, she said, "I'm gonna have to battle Nick freaking Jonas, I'm so not cool compared to you."
I don't know, Kelly, taking back tequila like a champ on national TV pretty much cements your cool mom status if you ask me. Meanwhile, Blake Shelton has his own liquor, Smithworks Vodka, so we can only imagine the sh*t-talking that's gonna go down between him and Nick. Who's ready for season 18?!!
