Sometimes I forget that John Cena was (is?) a professional wrestler and not just a hot dude who does movies, but indeed the man has a pretty impressive career in the WWE. Like most professional athletes, he has his superstitions before a match, including one where he apparently eats "10,000 calories" of Tic Tacs before going into the ring. Wait...what?

John revealed this nervous habit to Kelly Clarkson on her new morning talk show. He said that eating a shit ton of Tic Tacs was a "nervous superstition" that he's since had to break.

“My thing was always Tic Tacs. It’s a nervous superstition that I’ve always have before we go on a broadcast, and I’ve had to wean myself off of them, because I was up to, like, three boxes a day and it’s right in the 20 minutes before broadcast,” he said.

While Cena said that his habit was "10,000 calories in straight sugar,” I'm calling B.S. Three boxes of Tic Tacs is about 360 calories, according to the nutrition information, which isn't nothing, but certainly isn't 10,000 calories worth, John. Don't be so hard on yourself!

Either way, John said part of the reason for his Tic Tac addiction was reallllyyy not wanting to smell when he was up in another wrestler's face.

“Everyone’s given a few mulligans in the B.O. and the breath category, but we also have a nice form of policing ourselves, where if somebody has a few more mulligans than he should we kind of give him the old, ‘hey man, it’s our office out there,'" he said.

I'd argue that being a movie star is probably more cause for popping boxes of Tic Tacs than even being a wrestler, but what do I know? What I do know is that I am now craving approximately three boxes of Tic Tacs.
