It's National Sandwich Day on November 3, which normally may not matter but if you haven't noticed, it's been a big year for sandwiches. In fact, Popeyes is even planning to bring back its uber-popular chicken sandwich on the day. Because the Chicken Sandwich Wars are still raging, Chick-fil-A also planned on celebrating the day too...but there's only one problem with that...November 3 is a Sunday. Awkward.

Fans noticed the gaffe when an email from Chick-fil-A's loyalty program hit inboxes this week, and quickly posted screenshots.

"Calling all sandwich lovers," the email read. "Some prefer it grilled, others fancy the original. No matter which Chick-fil-A sandwich you love, order yours on November 3 for National Sandwich Day."

If you didn't already know, Chick-fil-A is always closed on Sundays. Once people figured out that, um, they can't exactly participate in National Sandwich Day, that email was quickly followed by another, which then went viral on Twitter.

"Well...this is awkward. We're actually closed on National Sandwich Day," the email read, according to screenshots. "We recently sent an email that included a message about National Sandwich Day, which naturally we were very excited about. We didn’t realize it falls on Sunday when we are closed. We apologize for the confusion and hope to see you soon (Monday-Saturday)."

Popeyes quickly picked up on the gaffe, asking its competitor again..."y'all good?"

Chick-fil-A issued a joking statement to Business Insider. "The cows sometimes get over-eager on their quest for self-preservation," the statement read. "They have been reminded that Sundays are off limits."

And just like that, they pull us back in to the chicken sandwich discourse. Here we go again.
