Pizza, though typically round, has always come in square boxes. It's always been one of those weird things we just accept, like how there are always way more hot dogs in a pack than hot dog buns. But now, Pizza Hut is testing out a new, round box that could change the pizza delivery game forever.

The chain announced in a press release that it would be testing this special round box for a few reasons. For one, a round box obviously fits more snugly to a round pizza (no corners, you see), so it apparently stays safer, hotter, and crispier during delivery. It also uses less material to make and is "industrially compostable" where that is available.

The round box is only one innovation that the chain announced this week though. You can only get the box by ordering a pizza called the Garden Specialty which is topped with a plant-based Italian sausage topping called "Incogmeato." It also features onions, mushrooms, and banana peppers. It's the chain's first expansion into the very trendy world of faux meat.

Pizza Hut

You can only get this pizza in this box on Wednesday at one Pizza Hut location in Phoenix, AZ (3602 E. Thomas Road) starting at 11 a.m. All orders must be made in-store. The pizza will cost $10 and all proceeds from the pizza during the one-day event will be donated to Arizona Forward, a Phoenix-based sustainability organization. If the test is successful, Pizza Hut said it will look into ways to expand it into other markets as well.

For the rest of us, I guess we'll just have to keep eating the OG plant-based pizza for now. Where are my Veggies Lovers lovers at?
