If you haven't noticed, fall seems to be when Starbucks fans let their freak flags fly and come up with all sorts of amazing Halloween-inspired creations. Recently, we had the Jack Skellington Frappuccino, but now another Nightmare Before Christmas character is getting his (its?) time to shine with the Oogie Boogie Frappuccino.
If you're not familiar with the film, Oogie Boogie is described as a "burlap sack filled with insects, spiders and a snake for a tongue," which...same. Luckily the treat named after the character sounds a lot more appetizing. It appears to have been dreamed up by either Instagrammer Disneyguru22 or blogger Amanda Moring on Totallythebomb.com, which was also home to the Jack Skellington Frapp. Both posted about it yesterday and both used similar language that they worked with a barista to come up with it. And, yes, both recipes are pretty much identical.
Like most of the creative Starbucks secret menu items out there, you have to know how to order it, because your barista will not know what the hell you're talking about. Here's how it goes. You order whipped cream on the bottom, top that with Java Chips, then order a White Chocolate Mocha Frapp with Java Chips mixed in, top with whipped cream, matcha powder and Mocha Cookie Crumbles.
According to Totallythebomb, the easiest way to order this is by saying "a White Mocha, Java Chip Frappuccino, with Whipped Cream on the bottom and a few whole Java Chips. Whipped cream on top with a dusting of Matcha and Cookie Crumbles."
As some baristas pointed out in the comments, you should ask for this one NICELY because it's kind of complex. It can also get expensive—at least one Starbucks location has advertised it for $5.75 for a grande.
If you don't feel like ordering this drink, you can still visit Oogie Boogie at the entire Halloween party dedicated to him at Disneyland right now and pick up a cup in his likeness. Not bad for a burlap sack!
