A running theme of Jimmy Fallon's The Tonight Show is putting celebrities in very bizarre and hilarious scenarios that make for excellent little viral videos—often involving food. There was the time he took Nicki Minaj to Red Lobster, or joined Post Malone on a visit to Medieval Times. Today's clip involves an excursion outside the studio as well, with superstar Brad Pitt. It also involves 30 hot dogs, a jar of calcium chews, a scorpion bowl, a wedding cake, these tater tots...
The sketch is utterly nonsensical but here goes: Jimmy is dining alone at a restaurant when a waiter brings over a martini. "Courtesy of the gentleman at the bar," the waiter explains, cutting to the thrilling reveal of Brad sitting at the bar. Jimmy sends a drink back, and then the escalation begins as each tries to politely and passive aggressively one-up the other.
The single red M&M is a real highlight, but we do like to imagine the Tonight Show staff pitching (and then having to go out and buy for filming) all of these very weird foods. It is very funny to watch Brad try to stomach a bucket of tots, and poorly at that.
Brad is promoting a new film, Ad Astra, about an astronaut traveling through space to find his lost father. It's a pretty serious movie, which is great and all, but can Brad make more comedies? This clip is a great reminder that the guy has the chops.
