In the US, McDonald's has a few stand-by McFlurries—like Oreo and M&M, to name a few—that have been on the menu since what seems like the beginning of time. So when the chain gets a new McFlurry flavor, people take notice. That's why sightings of the chain's reported newest flavor, Mint Oreo, are so dang exciting.
The flavor was first spotted by YouTube reviewer Peep This Out, who noticed signage for the treat at his local McDonald's in Southern California. The Oreo Mint McFlurry is bright green and apparently made with vanilla soft serve, Oreo pieces, and Shamrock Shake syrup, which means that fans of that seasonal treat just may like this one too. He picked one of the McFlurries up for $2.69. Instagrammer @Markie Devo also shared what appears to be an ad for the new flavor, where it says that it's only available for a limited time.
Peep This Out gave this frozen treat pretty rave reviews, saying that the mint complemented the chocolate of the Oreos nicely and that it was just as refreshing as it looked. But as he pointed out, this seems more like a wintertime/holiday treat, so it could be great for a launch later this year. McDonald's confirmed to Delish that the item was being tested, but, as always, that doesn't mean it will be available nationwide.
"The Oreo Mint McFlurry is currently being tested in select restaurants. Staying in touch with consumer preferences is incredibly important so we regularly conduct tests to look at ways we can evolve our menu for customers," McDonald's said in a statement.
This is just the latest in new McFlurry news, as McDonald's was also spotted testing out a Snickerdoodle McFlurry last month. Who says exciting ice cream news has to end with summer?
