Hostess is notorious for trolling the Internet at large—just last month they tweeted a picture of mustard-filled Twinkies on National Mustard Day. Well, I hate to say it, but they've played mind games with us once again, this time by showcasing a box of Peanut Butter and Pickle Sandwich Twinkies and NO ONE WAS OK.
On Monday, the brand took to Twitter and tweeted a photo of the cringingly gross, possibly new Twinkie flavor. With the very upsetting photo, they wrote: "Only the real ones know about these #Twinkies #PeanutButter #Pickles."
Listen. If you want to eat that combination in a sandwich, fine, I guess! But if you want to have it in some sort of dessert form?! No. As you can see, the people of Twitter felt the same way as I do. They really were not pleased.
And while many were skeptical for awhile, Hostess encouraged those responding to their tweet in a panic. They encouraged the fact that this news *could* really actually be true.
The brand did eventually come clean to TODAY and said these types of Twinkies would not actually be a real thing...bless. "This is just some social media levity from Hostess. We regularly feature fun, fictional products on our social media, and this is one of those," a Hostess spokesperson announced.
All I can say is PRAISE F*CKING BE that this is all fake news. Oh, and @Hostess? Don't play with our hearts like this ever again. Please.
