ICYMI, Jennifer Garner hosts a semi-regular "Pretend Cooking Show" on Instagram where, despite the name, she actually cooks. And for her latest episode, the Once Upon A Farm co-founder gave a tutorial with her "first and possibly only" guest, the head chef at an actual L.A. 'za hotspot.
"The secret behind @pizzana (THE Los Angeles destination for real deal italian pizza 🍕🙌🏼) is my longtime friend [Daniele Uditi]," Garner wrote on the 'gram. "I could not be happier for Daniele's success—I could not be more excited to have him here." She also appropriately hashtagged the post with #watchingmakesmehungry and #nowondermyjeansdontfit. Our girl is so relatable.
The pair—who not only made a Pizzana recipe, but shared the step-by-step for fans—started in with tomato smushing. Though Garner admits to typically blending her tomatoes (they used the San Marzano kind, fyi!), Uditi insists on making the sauce with their bare hands. They whip up some dough—"he likes my technique," Garner cheers—and just "let it chill" for a bit.
Then it's time for the main event: TOPPINGS. "You use so much more sauce than I thought you did," she adds, as Uditi goes in with the tomatoes, cheese, and fresh basil. They cook it for a bit, pull it out to add more cheese, a sprinkle of olive oil, toss on some pepperoni, and then back in it goes.
By the end, they're ready for the taste test. Considering Garner yells, "Lord have mercy" upon her first bite, I'd say they did a...decent enough job. Right? "Daniele made us legitimate, but we're just pretend," she added at the end. "That was delightful."
