Sometimes in life, a gift so great comes along that we have no choice but to stop and marvel at its beauty. While some would apply that sentiment to sunsets, diamond rings, or, I don't know, a baby, this is Delish, so obviously we're talking about a massive freaking 72-pound wheel of cheese on sale at the one, the only, Costco.

The grown-ish child-size hunk of glory that is this Parmigiano Reggiano can be yours for the low, low cost of $900. Nope, this is not a joke: Costco Deals Online shared a photo of the cheese on Instagram recently and Costco's website confirms its existence and cost. Per the website's "features" specifications, the wheel of Parm is aged 24 months, imported from Italy, and, yes, extravagant.

If you really do buy one, it will ship in two-to-three days. As such, the cheese only ships on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays so as not to get stuck in weekend transit.

Now, the best way to describe the luxury of a 72-pound cheese is to hear from the people who have enjoyed it themselves. Here are a few insightful reviews from the truest of cheese fans:

    • "Bought this as a surprise for my son's wedding reception (he is a fiend for the stuff). With the help of youtube instructions and the proper tools and his good buddy, he and his brother cracked open the Parm in front of family and friends, to great applause and cheers. It was fun to watch and actually quite beautiful! The cheese is magnificent; fragrant and delicious. Afterwards, guests were pleased to take home a wedge as a party favor of sorts (with the groom reserving probably a quarter of the wheel for himself, haha)."
    • "Got this as a gift, what the heck am I supposed to do with all this cheese!?"
    • "We purchased this so we could have a flaming wheel of cheese for Christmas Eve dinner. It worked perfectly. We still have at least 60 lbs. left. So I guess we'll be having some more parties! Then split the wheel up and share with friends."
    • "A good example of the king of cheeses."

Aside from serving it at weddings and flaming cheese dinner parties, you can put this stuff on soup, pasta, cheese boards, salads, pizzas...you get the picture. Also, Costco describes Parmigiano Reggiano as "the apex of Italian cheese making and a symbol of Italian culture and civilization," which is enough of a selling point for me...if I had a spare $900 lying around. As it is, excuse me while I go dream of cheese wheels.
