While everyone and their mother continues to freak out about the great Popeye's chicken sandwich debate of 2019, Cracker Barrel is quietly making chicken-centric moves of its own. Along with a new, limited-time fall menu—we'll get to that in a sec—the restaurant announced its Sunday Homestyle Chicken will now be available every day of the week rather than just on Sundays.
If you've never tried the dish, it's basically the southern comfort meal of your dreams: two massive pieces of fried boneless chicken breasts plus your choice of sides like the mashed potatoes and broccoli you see below. Starting August 26, you'll be able to order it whenever you want. Step aside, Chick-fil-A. You can also order the chicken in sandwich form: The new Homestyle Chicken BLT puts the Sunday Homestyle Chicken on a soft bun with maple glaze, bacon, sweet and smoky mayo, lettuce, and tomato.
As for the restaurant's fall additions, there are three limited-time offerings that fit right in with the rest of the southern-style menu. On the drink front, you can order peach tea and pumpkin pie lattes now through December 1; the tea is a mix of Cracker Barrel's classic iced tea and peach puree while the coffee comes mixed with "seasonal pumpkin pie flavors" and topped with whipped cream and pumpkin pie spice.
The last new item is on the dessert menu and sounds insanely rich and delicious. Cracker Barrel's Praline Pecan Bread Pudding mixes creamy bread pudding with vanilla and brown sugar, praline-style buttery pecan streusel, vanilla ice cream, and a caramel drizzle. It's only on menus through October 13 so try it soon if you want a taste.
